Party Punch

19 April 2011

Giveaway time! Be sure to check it out on today's post!

I love adorable looking beverage tables. I think a great looking beverage table gives the party the perfect "punch!"  There are so many ways to beautifully arrange tables and many delicious drink recipes.  Today, I am going to share a few with you.
This first beverage table is from an outdoor wedding.  It inspired by an incredibley awesome place to shop:   Anthropologie.  I love it's simplicity.
I found this photograph at Santa Barbara Chic Blog.

These two pictures are from Elizabeth Anne Designs.  They too are from an outdoor wedding.  The antique table is beautiful and not over the top.  I really like the berry water.  I'm definitely going to try that this summer!

The above beverage tables are from a bridal shower.  These pictures are copied from Eat Drink Pretty.   Again, a simplex design. . .very clean and very pretty.

Ok.  So there are some delightful beverage tables.  Now for the delicious punches and drinks they provide a home for.

My favorite party punch is a yummy champagne punch.

Recipe:
1 bottle of your favorite champagne (approximately 25 oz.)
4 quarts of pink or regular lemonade
Mix to taste.  Toss in strawberries, limes, or lemons.

Here is a quick and easy non-alcoholic party punch.

Recipe:
2 - 2 liter bottles of ginger ale
2 -2 liter bottles of strawberry flavored soda
2 cups lemon sherbet
8 ounces frozen strawberries, sliced
Combine soda, add sherbet and stir in the strawberries.

This adorable octopus punch was found on Better Homes and Gardens.  This display is perfect for a monster themed party, a Halloween party, or an ocean animal themed party.

Today's post showed you some beautfiul beverage tables that are easy to replicate for almost any occasion.  The party punch recipes and ideas mentioned are also perfect for any of your celebrations, big or small.

Mmmm...Breakfast!

12 April 2011

Just a quick post for today.  My daughter's third birthday party is coming up this weekend and I am in complete party prep mode!  I can't wait for her party!  It's going to be great!  I can't wait to share it with you all.  I will also be doing another giveaway to celebrate my 100 facebook "likes" milestone next week.  The current giveaway to Embraceable Lace is still going on until Friday.  A winner will be posted Friday evening.  Until then. . . .

I love breakfast.  Not just your everyday breakfast of a bagel or a bowl of oatmeal.  I mean BREAKFAST!  Eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast, waffles, pancakes, coffee, juice. . .And did I mention pancakes?
Seems like this type of breakfast happens only on the weekends.  Having two little girls ages three and one doesn't allow you to cook a morning meal like that without an extra pair of hands.  So Saturday morning The Barcelona's do it up!
Our latest favorite breakfast item is "Choc-onut" Pancakes!

These pancakes are fantastic and so simple to make.  I am going to tell you how in a few simple steps.
  1. Mix up your pancake batter.
  2. Add a 1/4 teaspoon of coconut extract to your batter.  Mix.
  3. Pour mix on griddle.
  4. Add chocolate chips.
  5. Cook until golden on each side.
That's it.  Add a touch of whipped cream and maple syrup and watch out taste buds!  These are delightful!  If you try them be sure to let me know what you think!

Have a great week!

AJ's Owl Themed Party

1.  Become a follower of party paper scissors blog.
2.  "Like" party paper scissors and leave a comment on my wall.

     Hello Everyone!

This is the debut of my blog.  There are some previous entries because I used the blog to show customers my designs before I opened my etsy shop.  A lot has changed since then.  I've opened my shop, have more customers, a facebook page and now a blog.  I hope you find this blog interesting and fun!  I plan to use it as an outlet to show beautiful parties and to share all sorts of things from crafts to recipes that represent the person I am.  I am a mother of two beautiful girls ages 3 and 1.  I am a wife to the best man ever!  I live in Pittsburgh, PA and love it!  I wake up every morning and am very grateful for everything in and about my life!  Thanks for stopping by!

Planning parties is my passion!  I jump at the chance to help anyone plan, decorate or prepare for a celebration.  I like to focus on the small things.  The little details.  The things other people would not even think of incorporating into a party.  I enjoy searching to find unique items that perfectly accent a party's theme.  For me it's complete fun.  I love to make parties beautiful.
I took that approach when planning my daughter, Addison June's first birthday party.  I chose an owl theme for her special celebration using a color palette of pink, light blue, fair orange and soft green.  All paper decorations were designed and made by party paper scissors.

Here is the birthday girl, AJ as we call her.  She is wearing the darling Hoo Loves Daisy set designed by Bella Grace Creations

Though the picture is a bit light you can see the delightful color palette used throughout the party decor.

Cute little owl accenting the banner.

This is AJ's darling cake with an owl topper created by Cakes and Kids.   The cupcake toppers below were also created by Cakes and Kids.
In addition to the fondant owl cupcake toppers, I created owl toppers and number one toppers to accent the yummy cupcakes.

The owls here match the owls on the banner.  I also carried over the number one cupcake toppers to the drink stirrers, napkin rings, and water bottle wraps.

I think the beverage table is one of my favorite parts of the party design.  I love the charm a glass beverage dispenser adds to a party!  In it was a delicious pink lemonade champagne punch.  With paper straws, table tent, and mason jars with owl drink stirrers,  the table looked delightful!

What is a party without a candy bar?  This candy table looks adorable with the handmade bunting made by party paper scissors.

I offered six different candies, sixlets, swizzle sticks, M&M's, jeans and pixie sticks. Our guests were able to fill little candy bags up with yummy treats. The candy bag wraps and owl jar wraps were made by
party paper scissors.

The owl cookies and gourmet caramel popcorn were a couple other goodies enjoyed by our guests.  They were made by Southern Girl Bakery.
The popcorn cones were purchased from Shop Sweet Lulu.  I just love that shop!

The darling number one and owl napkin rings in a cute little pail.

The birthday girl is sitting in her grandfather's highchair which was made by his uncle.  The cute crown and adorable number one highchair bunting is made by party paper scissors.
This is AJ's smash cake adorned with sweet mini cake bunting by party paper scissors.  The cute pink striped candle is from Shop Sweet Lulu.

AJ wasn't too sure about what to do.  Her number one polka dot crown was created by
party paper scissors.

These charming muslin goodie bags were hand stamped by Jennifer's Cookies.
The goodie bag tags were made by party paper scissors.

This was a favor for the adults, a hand sewn owl clothespin magnet.  This too was made by
party paper scissors.

Overall, the party was a huge success.  Fun was had by all.  The children enjoyed owl hand print art, stringing macaroni necklaces, designing their own party crown, playing parachute games, singing with the music performer, and playing in the tree house tent!
