Steeler Decorations

20 September 2016

In our house, we bleed black and gold.  We are fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Before children, my husband's life, which in turn means my life, revolved around Steeler football.  Our wedding was scheduled around THEIR schedule.  My husband is lucky that it was me who he married!   I support his love and his passion for these sports 100%.
I wanted to do something a little fun to celebrate the Steelers home opener against the Bengals...Host a little indoor tailgate...   I decided to whip up some Steeler decorations and cook up some good yinzer food. See the outcome below.
We had the traditional Pittsburgh faves, pierogies and homemade Primanti Brothers sliders.

The Steelers
decorations turned out great and added that perfect little bit flair.
The cupcake toppers, the banners, the fabric streamer backdrop, and the garland can be found in my shop.

It was a fun Sunday in our house.  The indoor tailgate, with Steelers decorations was delish and the Steelers won!

Halloween Ideas

14 September 2016

Fall is upon is and Halloween is right around the corner. I love this time of year. It is a great time to get creative and crafty. I have been brainstorming Halloween ideas from sweet treats to Halloween costumes to how I am going to set up the kitchen table for my kiddos.  I love to decorate our little round (seats four but we are a family of six) table for every holiday/event. So when searching for things to make my Halloween ideas a reality, of course I swung by Target.
Jackpot!!! Run and fill your basket! Target Dollar spot has some REALLY great things to make your Halloween extra cute and extra fun. Here is a bunch of stuff that I picked up last week. I plan to share my Halloween ideas and what I am going to do with these adorable things over the next couple of weeks.
First Halloween idea... a Halloween gift. This is the easiest gife you will ever put together and cost is under $7.

You can use any fall or Halloween inspired vessel.  I found these at the Target Dollar Spot for $3.

Next, you fill it with the candy of your choice.

And there you have it. A cute, simple, easy to put together, gift.
My two girls will be giving these to their teachers.

More Halloween ideas to come...

Back to School Bash

06 September 2016

So, school is now in session. I am sending my two daughters to third grade and to first grade this year.  I am excited for them to get back to learning but not excited to be apart from them all day. I will miss them terribly. Lucky for me, I still have my two year old twins at home.

I planned a little Back to School Bash for my girls and two of their friends.  The theme of the party was "Be Awesome Today."  As always, I am encouraging  my kiddos to be the best person they can be. I want them to be happy.  I want them to be confident. I want them to be kind.  I want them to be compassionate.  I want them to be the includer and not the excluder.  I want them to be brave.

I want them to be brave because this school year, they will be coming face to face with  new and old challenges.  From learning new concepts, which may be difficult and may leave them unsure about their answers to teacher questions, to dealing with their peers who may say mean things... I want them to be brave.  I want them to be confident with their answers in the classroom.  I want them the to tell the peer who is taunting them, " Hey...It's nice to be nice."  Building strong, confident girls now, will help them grow into strong, confident women.

Here is one snapshot from the party.  Sadly, my phone crashed and I lost all of the pictures from this party.  I didn't expand the storage on my cloud!!  Huge mistake.  Enjoy the picture!

Back to School = Back to Blogging.

17 August 2015

Two of my four children go back to school this week. It makes me sad to think about it. I love having them home with me... Not to mention, my odest, Kaelen is very helpful with the twins.  So, it will be less noisy, less chaotic, less for me to do... There will be less fighting, less crying, less smiles, less laughter...I will be sad and I will be missing them. Though I will be missing them, I will appreciate the new routine that we will fall into.  Though I love being carefree in the summer, I crave strucure! Bring on the structure!

I know parents who are excited for their children to go back to school and I know parents who dread sending their children back to school. Which parent are you? Do you crave structure? Would you home school your kiddos if you could? Feel free to post your comments below.

In the spirit of going back to school, here is one of Kaelen's back to school outfits.

Cinco de Mayo Party... Better Late Than Never!

29 May 2014

So. I had these big plans of posting our Cinco de Mayo play date the day AFTER it happened... May 6.  Well... Here it is May 29.  Better Late than never.
The cliche "better late than never" holds more meaning to me now more than ever.  We have a very busy household.  Family of six.  A six year old.  A four year old.  Three month old twins.  A father/husband   A mother/wife.  Having so much going on allows for some things to go undone or unfinished or simply forgotten.  For example, craft projects.  I have several craft projects in que.  AJ's Hello Kitty curtains, Matilda Jane knock off tank, cardboard monogram letters for Reagan and Jacks room.  These things will get done.  I promise.  When there is extra time these types of things get done. The same goes for blogging... When there is time it will get done!  Better late than never! So without further ado... Cinco de Mayo play date in a very small nutshell.

Cinco de Mayo Inspriation

29 April 2014

Cinco de Mayo...What a day of fun celebrations!!  I always thought that Cinco de Mayo was Mexico's Independence Day.   It is not!  Wikipedia: " the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla). It originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War  and today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.

Since the birth of our twins, I  try to continue to do as many special things with my 4 and 6 year old as I did before the babies were born.  So, I decided to do a little Cinco de Mayo party/playdate. I hope time allows me to follow through and pull this off.  I have learned in the past two months that not many of my super cute, fun plans are followed through.  My heart is totally in the right place but time is often not on my side.  Anyhoo...I was searching the web for inspiration and found many things that stood out!  I hope to use the following images as inspiration for:

Party of Six...Paging Barcelona...Party of Six

17 February 2014

It has been a very long time since my last post.  It's true...I am an inconsistent blogger.  I do my best to keep up.  Typically there is a lapse from blog post to blog post due of lack of time.  Being a momma of two girls ages 3 and 5 keeps you busy.  However, this last lapse was due to me being pregnant...with TWINS!  The past 7-8 months have been full of fun, surprises, sickness and lots of midwife appointments and ultra sounds.  The twins will be coming within the next week or so.  I am so excited and cannot wait for their arrival!  We will be going from a party of 4 to a party of 6!  Party of 6...Has a ring to it!  I am also looking forward to getting back on the blogging band wagon and opening my etsy shop:  www.partypaperscissors.etsy.com again.  Until then...I will leave you with a few pictures of our gender reveal party.  The party was very simple, casual and not overdone...We kept it simple.  I didn't get pictures of all of the cute details but here are a few that I did get.  Oh!  And do you have twins?  Want to share some advise?  Please feel free to leave a comment!

Lady Bug Birthday Party

27 April 2013

Choosing a theme for AJ's birthday party was easy.  The girl loves lady bugs.  When she finds them in our house, whether they are living or not, she loves to put them in a jar and tote them around the house.  She talks to them and asks me if she can feed hem "salad."   Anytime she sees a lady bug she tells anyone who will listen that she loves lady bugs.  So...without further adieu....AJ's  lady bug party!  Please note...All pictures were taken by One Plum Lane Photography.  S
